Win with diagnostic insights: Near-infrared transillumination for caries detection
In this webinar, an expert will discuss common caries diagnostic methods and explain the value of near-infrared transillumination. In addition, the integration possibilities in dental offices will be explained and an outline of the current study situation will be given.
Win with diagnostic insights – Near-infrared transillumination for caries detection
For a long time, caries diagnosis has been regarded to be reliable, if the classical means were used. Visual (sometimes tactile) inspection and bite wing imaging are the most common classics. From the end of the 1990s onwards, other methods came onto the market (e.g. fluorescence devices like DIAGNOdent), because it became apparent that the informative value of X-rays (particularly in the diagnosis of early-stage caries) was insufficient or because the aim was to minimize the use of X-rays. Since 2012, DIAGNOcam, a near-infrared transillumination (NIR) device has been available, which produces an image similar to X-ray, but which can be viewed live from occlusal in different angles, enabling early diagnosis and avoiding potentially harmful radiation.
Through the many years of experience of a worldwide user community, it has also been shown that NIR makes the diagnosis more precise, the treatment of caries is more selective and has a positive effect on patient compliance and on turnover in practice. This is an important aspect in today’s world (with a sharp decline in caries and the impending aftermath of the corona pandemic).
In addition, integration into practice is relatively easy and the learning curve is quite short. Often the NIR is also carried out by the assistant and integrated into the prophylaxis. The webinar discusses the common caries diagnostic methods and explains the value of NIR in practice using many case studies. In addition, the possibilities of integration in the practice are explained and an outline of the current study situation is given.
Target group: Dentists who want the best for their patients and/or are interested in a structural and technical upgrade of their practice.
The topic will be covered by Frank Emde, Director Professional Education and Clinical Affairs at KaVo, in his course on May 13th at 9:00 a.m. Among other things, you will find out everything about the range of indications, patient compliance enhancement and how to work effectively with DIAGNocam.
