The Restoration - Soft tissue interface around teeth and implants: Concept and Implementation
In order to achieve a harmonious natural-looking result of restored teeth and artificial implant restorations at the smile zone, the operative site must be carefully analysed and planned for a healthy integration of the whole restorative complex within the surrounding living tissues.
At the smile zone the goal should be obtaining natural-looking restorations and gingival or peri-implant soft tissue embracing a natural-looking functioning crown.
The accumulated insights of the last 20 years on bone and tissue response (and alterations) around restored teeth and implants, enable biologic implementation of different surgical and restorative approaches, so that the abutment-crown complex is planned to blend in with the adjacent dentition and realized accordingly.
The surgical and restorative workflow of challenging restorations at the smile zone will be demonstrated and discussed to enable a clear insight of the factors influencing satisfactory results by implementing the principles and techniques of Model-Based Restoration and Cervical Contouring.
