Dr. Alberto Turri graduated from the University of Padova, Italy, in 1997. After working within the hospital service and in General Dental Practice within Italy, in 2004 he attended a 3-year post-graduate training program at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and was awarded a certificate as Specialist in Periodontics in 2006, recognized by the European Federation of Periodontology and General Dental Council (UK).
From January 2007 till December 2012, Dr. Turri worked at the Specialistic Clinic in Periodontics, Public Dental Health Service (Gothenburg, Sweden), mainly focusing on periodontal and implant treatments. Besides his clinical activity with patients, he was involved in teaching post-graduate students as Senior Consultant . In 2013 he starts working at the Surgical Department of the Brånemark Clinic (Gothenburg, Sweden).
Moreover, he is currently involved in a PhD project at the Department of Biomaterials, University of Gothenburg. The main scientific interest encompasses the biological principle of guided bone regeneration and the development of new membranes and composite synthetic bone grafts which could facilitate bone healing or further enhance bone regeneration prior to implant installation in case of severe bone defects. From a clinical point of view, being a Specialist in Periodontics enables him to concentrate his research interests also on peri-implantitis that is an implantrelated condition, which is increasingly being noticed in the clinical setting contributing to a significant proportion of implant failures.
