Dr. Ferreira Zandoná is a tenured Associate Professor of the Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry and director of the Master of Science in Dentistry in Preventive Dentistry at Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD). Dr. Zandoná is originally from Curitiba, Brazil where she received her dental degree. She has a MSD Operative Dentistry (1994) and a PhD in Dental Sciences (1997), with a focus in Cariology from Indiana University. Dr. Zandoná research activities have focused on cariology, particularly, early caries diagnosis and management as well as risk assessment. She has received research grants as principal investigator from the National Institutes of Health, the Delta Dental Fund and private industry. She is the Director of the Early Caries Detection and Management Research Program. She is a core member of the International Caries Detection and Assessment System Committee. She has been a member for many years of the International Association for Dental Research, and the European Organization for Caries Research (ORCA), and the Academy of Operative Dentistry.
