Updating the clinical approach and the treatment options in cases of anterior and posterior teeth with Molar-Incisor-Hypomineralisation
The existing scientific data and the experience of the international experts shows that 'Treatment of young patients with MIH should be scheduled per case, following the definition of the defect severity per individual tooth'.
The treatment options regarding anterior and posterior permanent teeth affected by Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation include preventive, conservative and more invasive approaches. The majority of them have been substantially clarified following the 6th EAPD Interim Seminar and Workshop in Helsinki in 2009. Recently a specially assigned by EAPD study group of experts is working on updating all treatment options for this significant and quite frequent dental defect. The outcome of this scientific activity will be presented in the Virtual 12th EAPD Interim Seminar and Guidelines Workshop in Oslo, in April 2021.
The existing scientific data and the experience of the international experts shows that ‘Treatment of young patients with MIH should be scheduled per case, following the definition of the defect severity per individual tooth’. Following this concept all contemporary treatment options related to the defect should be included in the clinician’s armory. The presentation of these options in this Lecture, part of the newly established EAPD Galileo program of online continuous education, will include all the updated scientific information related to the treatment of the defect supported by illustrative clinical cases for all preventive, conservative and invasive methods.
