"Stop Watching": Detecting caries around dental restorations with The Canary System
Imagine being able to offer your patients the ability to detect lesions around the margins of restorations. Lesions not seen on x-rays or visually, but require treatment.
Imagine having your patients see their own caries report when they want on a web-based “cloud”. The Canary System offers you the accurate non-invasive solution for caries detection around the margins of restorations, beneath sealants, in the pits and fissures, interproximal regions and on smooth enamel and root surfaces. The Canary System directly examines the status of the enamel crystal structure and is not dependent on measuring bacterial by-products. Management of dental caries is not watching and placing a restoration but involves a full spectrum of treatment options from detection, monitoring remineralizing to restoring carious lesions. The Canary System, using PTR-LUM technology can detect and monitor changes in the crystal structure of the tooth.
The system detects lesions up to 5 mm. beneath the tooth surface which typically do not appear on radiographic images and can not be detected with visual examination or probing with a dental explorer. This course will provide an overview of the 10 years on research on The Canary System and how to integrate it into your clinical practice. The course will teach you how to detect caries around the margins of restorations (amalgam and composite) and detect lesions beneath dental sealants. The detection and management of small lesions with remineralization therapies will be discussed. A hands on presentation will show you how to integrate The Canary into clinical practice and use the patient reports and Canary Cloud to engage patients in their oral health care.
Learning objectives:
- Learn how to implement a caries management system into your clinical practice
- Find out how you can grow your restorative practice!
- Learn why you can “stop watching” teeth that are suspect, but you don’t have enough information to act.
