Oral Care for Older Patients: Section 2: Innovations in Interprofessional Care

This section will consist of three presentations on the topics of paving the way to promoting inter-professional teams, nursing and dental education and learning from mobilization of a HIV-Aids Oral health Strategy.

Interprofessional education and collaborative practice strategies will be the key discussion points.

Participants will learn:

• How collaborative healthcare will change the health professionals are educated and how healthcare is delivered
• The role dental educators and practitioners can play in the care of older adults
• How to build interprofessional oral health workforce by linking oral health to overall health
• Examine how the success of the multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of people living which HIV can work for the elderly–another vulnerable segment of our society
