Efficacious and safe skin treatments done with the Waterlase Fractional Handpiece
A retrospective observational clinical study reports on the efficacy and safety of treatment of various skin esthetic procedures, using the Biolase Er;Cr:YSGG 2780 nm laser connected to the Fractional Handpiece. When benign skin pigment is present, combination with an antipigment-chemicals is apply following the laser pass to trans-epidermally reaching the dermis to target deep located melanin. Also, treatment of scar tissue and cases for skin facial rejuvenation obtained successful outcomes, with patients' high index of satisfaction.
The Er;Cr:YSGG laser was used, in most cases, programmed for emission at 9 W and delivered in a single pass in 1-2 treatment sessions.
During irradiation laser energy is pulsed at 10 Hz by 10 fractional micro-beams, without necessity of anesthesia due to the aid of water and compressed air sprayed provided by the device.
No patient presented significant complications. Epidermis and dermis changes, as result of treatment, were found beneficial. Pigment skin disorders together with the overall facial skin condition and tissue fibrosis experienced a notable improvement, and recovery time was significantly short.
In addition, on objectively evaluating results, patients were satisfied or very satisfied and would recommend the treatment.
The Waterlase Fractional Handpipece is available only in European, Middle Eastern, African and some Asian countries where dermatological indications are within the dental scope of practice. Not available in the US.
