Alliance for a Cavity Free Future Canada-US Chapter Launch Keynote
Framing caries management in children as a public policy issue consistent with healthcare reform currently underway in the US
Course description
This lecture was delivered as the Keynote Address from the U.S. perspective upon the launch of the North American Chapter of the Alliance for a Cavity Free Future. To place current thinking about caries management in the context of the Alliance’s goals and objectives, the lecture addressed five primary domains:
1. Improved language to tell our story
2. Shift from repair to disease management and control through engagement of helping professions and lay health workers
3. New paradigm of education for our dental professionals
4. Financing changes to reward outcomes and incentive care of the children who need us most
5. Vertically integrated health systems that share the values of primary care medicine
before considering three options through which primary and specialty dentistry in the US may relate to primary care and specialty medicine in the future.
