Immediate Loading Implant Esthetics and the Curious Link to Botulinum Toxin Injections

Dr. Marlene Teo

Immediate implant placement and loading in patients with bruxism has always been a challenge due to heavy and unpredictable occlusal forces. Heavy occlusal forces can cause micromovements to the implant fixture and decrease the chances of implant osseointegration. Botulinum Ttoxin injections are commonly used in Asia as an esthetic option of solution to slim the face. This is achieved by reducing the size of the masseters. What if we could also utilise the advantages of Botulinum toxin injections to weaken the masseter muscles and reduce pathologic occlusal forces from bruxism? In this lecture, we will examine the rationale of the use of Botulinum Toxin injections for function and esthetics and present some anterior implant cases that have been successfully treated with this novel technique.

Oral Health in Comprehensive Cleft Care

Prof. Ihsane Ben Yahya , Prof. Peter Mossey , Dr. Omolola Orenuga , Prof. M.S Muthu , Dra. Monica Dominguez

Clefts of the lip and palate (clefts) are the most common birth defect of the face and mouth. Clefts occur when parts of the lip and/or palate and nose do not fuse together during embryonic development. Clefts can be associated with missing or extra teeth, and malformed teeth and facial structures. Even children who undergo cleft surgery are often at an increased risk for caries, periodontal disease, and other oral health and wellbeing issues as they grow and develop.

Pediatric Endodontics: Biological approach

Dr. Prasad Musale MDS, MLD

Pediatric dentistry is a unique specialty dealing with the total and comprehensive oral health care of children. With the passage of time, there has been a definite shift from an ‘extraction-based approach’ of managing the symptomatic teeth to a more conservative approach of maintaining the integrity of the natural oral structures while alleviating the symptom for the child.

Neodent Discovery – Advances in Guided Surgery Applications – Planning to Execution

Dr. Scott Ganz DMD

Replacing missing teeth with an implant-supported restoration represents both a surgical and restorative challenge. Proper pre-surgical prosthetic planning involves understanding the patient’s bony anatomy, adjacent teeth, vital structures, occlusion, and desired aesthetics. Cone Beam CT imaging modalities provide necessary 3-D information when combined with state-of-the-art software-driven tools provide clinicians and dental laboratory technicians with the new digital workflow and 3-D printing technology, helping to avoid complications and achieving successful implant reconstruction for single tooth to full arch restorations. As technology has evolved, so has guided surgical applications and the refinement of the instrumentation required to accurately execute the planned position of the implants.
