Live webinarHPV-related oropharyngeal cancers are rising globally and in many countries is the most common HPV-related cancer, having surpassed HPV-related cervical cancer. This webinar explores how oral health professionals can support prevention, early detection and patient education through routine practice, communication and HPV vaccination awareness.
The proportion of Human papillomavirus (HPV)-related oropharyngeal cancers is increasing; many occur in patients without traditional risk factors such as tobacco or alcohol use. As incidence rates of HPV-related oropharyngeal cancers continue to rise globally, oral health professionals have an essential role to play in prevention, early detection and patient education.
This webinar, based on the FDI HPV Project white paper and accompanying clinical and patient education resources, will explore why HPV awareness should become an integral component of everyday dental practice. Participants will gain practical insights into identifying clinical signs of HPV-related disease, conducting systematic oral and neck examinations, and supporting vaccination awareness in a neutral and evidence-based manner.
The session will also introduce the project’s new infographics designed for both oral health professionals and patients, highlighting key recommendations that can be integrated into routine care.
By strengthening awareness and integrating HPV-related prevention strategies into oral healthcare settings, dental teams can contribute significantly to reducing the burden of HPV-related cancers and improving patient outcomes.
