The reasons are twofold, first, scientific advances in the development of superior, alternative restorative materials and second, patient wishes. However, the clinical time and cost of aesthetic direct composite posterior restorations are far greater than the single-step amalgam fillings. In addition, the current economical constraints in the western countries are a hindrance for expensive and protracted dental care. Hence, the introduction of bulk-fill, deep resin restorative materials is both timely and fortuitous.
This webinar discusses a revolutionary bulk-fill resin, or deep resin composite, SonicFill (Kerr Corp., USA), possessing fluctuating viscosity by the application of sonic energy. The rationale for the system is explained, together with concerns and the benefits in clinical practice. Deep resins are primarily indicated for direct composite tooth coloured fillings in posterior teeth, but the unique varying viscosity of the SonicFill concept offers other useful clinical applications. Numerous case studies are presented for a variety of clinical situations including replacing defective posterior fillings; core build-ups and retaining fixed orthodontic brackets & retainers.
