Predictability in aesthetic implant dentistry: factors that contribute to an improved outcome
Nowadays aesthetics is extremely important for our patients. They don’t visit our office with a simple request for a tooth replacement and are critical about the final result. Beautiful ceramic crowns that are firmly integrated with the soft tissue are a strand art of care. Unfortunately after tooth extraction we face changes in the buccal contour and the papillae appearance.
Plastic periodontal procedures have been introduced to optimalize the soft tissue architecture around natural teeth and dental implants. Esthetic results in prosthetic and implant dentistry are determined by creating a natural harmony between soft tissues and prosthodontics. Several surgical and prosthodontic procedures are described to preserve or to restore an ideal peri-implant tissue architecture. Choosing an appropriate technique is mandatory to reach an optimal esthetic result. This lecture will specifically focus on the extent of the surgical approach and the related benefit for the aesthetic outcome. At the end of this lecture the participants should be able to indicate several procedures to optimize and maintain pink aesthetics.
