Silver Amalgam and Glass Ionomer have been predominantly used in our restorative practice for many years. Each of these materials has their own drawbacks. The global initiative established by United Nation Environment Programme (UNEP) has clearly indicated to reduce the use of mercury. Silver Amalgam used for restorations contain considerable amount of mercury and also causes an intrinsic grey colour. Glass Ionomers are very popular due to the fact of chemical adhesion and anti-cariogenic property. But, on the contrary their physical properties, flexural strength in particular do not allow the clinician to use Glass Ionomer in stress bearing areas.
So the quest for an alternative to Silver Amalgam has resulted in introduction of new restorative material, Cention N from Ivoclar Vivadent.
Dr. Mohan will explain in this live webinar how Cention N offers tooth coloured aesthetics together with high flexural strength. Cention N is a new category of filling material which is alkasite based. An interesting phenomenon of Cention N is the release of hydroxyl ions on demand to regulate the pH value during acid attacks. This self-curing filling material also has a light-curing option if necessary.
