In this presentation different timing of implant placement will be discussed analyzing different clinical situations understanding how the soft tissue management and soft tissue substitute could play a very important role in the achievement of the successful esthetic result with the immediate implant therapy.
The placement of a dental implant into an extraction socket is advantageous for the patient when compared to healing with or without a regenerative effort. There are fewer surgical procedures, reduced expense and discomfort, and the treatment regime is accomplished more rapidly with fewer visits. With that said, when does it provide an optimal result for the patient?
Irreversible changes are initiated shortly after tooth extractions. The resorption and the fate of the bone in a thin wall phenotype have the potential to greatly reduce the height of the buccal plate. These events will occur despite the placement of an implant.
On the contrary when a delayed implant is recommended, we will discuss the need for socket grafting procedure by means of cross-linked collagen membrane and bone substitute material.
