Staff Recruiting and Training

Sally McKenzie checks in with Dr. Howard Farran about important staffing issues for your dental practice in this edition of Excellence in Practice Management.

Learn how to recruit ideal candidates for openings on your team, how to train staff members well, and how to measure performance. Master these tasks, and you can transform even an average practice into one of the top 10 percent of all practices in the country.

According to McKenzie, most dental employees stay on the job for less than two years. That means you must be adept at both recruiting and training staff members. “After all,” Sally says, “a dentist can’t run a dental practice by himself or herself.”

McKenzie will offer her insights on effective recruiting procedures, including what to list at the top of your help wanted ad. She says most practices don’t do this simple thing. Also important is making sure your ad is one of the first that potential applicants will see and read. She also offers important guidance on how to write the ad itself.

The key steps in the screening process are outlined, as well as ways to test applicants for important job skills. In summary, this program will help you develop a system to give you the very best chance of success in employee hiring and training.
