Perforations may occur in any area of the tooth and with an incidence of 7 to 12 percent in retreatment cases it is not a rare treatment complication. Teeth that have been rated as questionable still a few years ago nowadays can be treated successfully with an adequate diagnostic and the use of modern techniques and materials. Nevertheless the treatment prognosis depends on the time elapsing between perforation and treatment, the size and the localisation of the perforation.
