Novel Clinical Applications of Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief in the Management of Dentine Hypersensitivity
Dentine hypersensitivity is a common problem found in many adult populations. Treatment of dentine hypersensitivity has been largely aim at either blocking the patent dentinal tubules or modifying the pulpal nerves response. The Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief desensitizing paste is an innovative treatment modality based upon 8.0% arginine, an amino acid naturally present in saliva, bicarbonate, a pH buffer, and calcium carbonate to occlude the dentinal tubules to provide instant relief and can be applied in a variety of situations in treatment for dentine hypersensitivity eg. for patients receiving professional prophylaxis, after periodontal surgery, prosthodontic procedures (exposed dentine after crown preparation), special need patients, patients receiving bleaching treatment etc. Several clinical studies have shown that both CSPR in-office desensitizing paste and homecare desensitizing toothpaste based upon 8% arginine and calcium carbonate are effective in providing instant and lasting relief for dentine hypersensitivity.
Session objectives:
To understand Pro-Argin Technology and its mode of action;;
To understand its different clinical applications for the effective treatment of dentine hypersensitivity.
