Hands – On Workshops
1. Modern concepts for soft tissue management around implants
In this hands-on course, the participants will be given the opportunity to practice on soft tissue management around implants. The focus will be on sub-epithelial and free gingival grafting along with the indicative incisions and suturing procedures in peri-implant area.
Instructor: Dr. Markus Hurzeler (Switzerland)
Date: Saturday 24 /9/2011
Registration fee: 220 euro
Limited number of participants
Sponsor: IMPLADEND 3i
2. Restoring Endodontically treated Teeth and Understanding Ferrule
Todays adhesive dentistry still requires sound principles to provide restorations that are long lasting. The lecture will discuss the How, When and Why to restoring Endodontically treated teeth with decision making when a post is required and when a core will suffice. Discussion on the importance of restorative ferrule in fixed prosthetic restorations will additionally be covered and why it is ad important today as in the pre-adhesive days of dentistry.
Instructor: Dr. Greg M. Kurtzman (USA)
Date: Friday 23 /9/2011
Registration fee: 140 euro
Limited number of participants (40 attendees)
Sponsor: DENTALCOM Γ.ΠΑΠΑΖΟΓΛΟΥ Α.Ε.
3. Bio-EmulationTM: Biomimetically Emulating Nature Utilizing a Histo-Anatomic Approach.
Re-creating the anatomical form and optical features of the intact tooth ever remains an arduous and challenging task and at times an elusive one, both within the clinical and technical dental realms.
In order to optimize the optical integration of modern composite resins and silica based ceramics per restorative dental emulation, a thorough understanding of the coronal elements, (enamel / dentinoenamel junction (DEJ)/ dentin) their three-dimensional configuration and their respective spatial inter-relationships is deemed compulsory. A thorough understanding of the histo-anatomic structures and dynamic light interaction of the natural dentition provides the dental team with the ultimate strategic advantage with regards to optical integration of the final restoration.
In this practicum, emphasis will be given in the proper visualization and sound understanding of spatial ordering amongst the enamel and dentin structural elements. Further elaboration on how to utilize this knowledge immediately in the clinical practice will be presented, as a foundation during shade estimation and for novel stratification techniques when fabricating direct and indirect restorations. Participants will create custom anatomic shade guides.
Instructor: Dr. Panos Bazos (Greece)
Date: Friday 23 /9/2011

Sponsor: IVOCLAR VIVADENT
4. Prefabricated Composite veneers: the new aesthetic alternative to direct composite veneers
Abstract: This program will overview the rationale and clinical application of a novel "Direct Veneering Technique" based on pre-fabricated, laser vitrified composite shells. Attendees will learn how to select shade appropriately for this system, prepare and condition the tooth and the veneers (including individual characterization) and finally how to proceed with specific cementation & finishing.
